School Council & South West Parents for French Immersion (SWPFI)

École St. Stanislaus has an active and engaged parent community. All parents are encouraged to get involved in our school community!

The School Council is a group of dedicated parent volunteers who, along with school administration, work closely together to provide the not only the best learning opportunities and environment for our children but also to promote the well-being and sense of community for all students of St. Stanislaus.

How can you help?

  • Volunteer for Casinos
  • Attend Community events such as Family Dance, Family Movie Night, St. Stan's Folk Fest

Role of the School Council and SWPFI

School Council is a collective partnership between parents, teachers, principals, staff and the community, who work together to effectively support and enhance student learning. School Council is one means for members of the school community to create meaningful discussion on education and school-related matters, in addition to providing advice and feedback to school administration. In school council meetings, we hear reports from administration and discuss ideas for activities, as well as the vision for the school.

To learn more about School Council, please contact us or attend a meeting.

The Southwest Parents for French Immersion Society (SWPFI) was formed in 1988.  SWPFI’s role is to raise funds to support the children and program initiatives at École St. Stanislaus. SWPFI is a registered society, an independent legal entity which manages the financial components associated with activities of the School Council. SWPFI meetings are where votes are made on the monies associated with ideas discussed in the School Council meeting.  Support from SWPFI goes to causes like upgrading the school’s technology (Chromebooks, iPads, laptop carts, Smartboards), library, literacy/numeracy, fine arts and sport events.

All École St. Stanislaus parents are welcome to become a member-at-large of SWPFI and attend meetings. We meet throughout the school year to discuss fundraising initiatives and to implement our fundraising programs.  We work with the School Council, administration and the teachers to determine the best use of the funds our school community has raised.
